74kg of gold confiscated from Febrie house declared authentic
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) denied rumors that the 74 kilograms of gold and cash seized during the investigation into the alleged corruption case implicating former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, were counterfeit.
This confirmation was made after investigators received the results of examinations from several authorized institutions, including PT Pegadaian, Bank Indonesia, and the United States Secret Service.
Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that all the confiscated gold had been tested and declared authentic.
“The evidence, consisting of 74 gold bars with a total weight of 74.01 kilograms, has a 23-karat grade based on the results of the PT Pegadaian examination,” Budi Hermanto said at a press conference in Jakarta.
In addition to the gold, investigators also confirmed that the seized rupiah cash was genuine, based on verification by Bank Indonesia.
“The 71,082 rupiah notes with a nominal value of Rp6,059,506,200 were declared authentic based on an examination by Bank Indonesia,” he said.
Furthermore, the authenticity of the foreign currency confiscated was also confirmed through examination by several institutions, including United States authorities.
“The US dollar bill with a nominal value of 6,370,921 was declared authentic based on an examination by the United States Secret Service,” Budi explained.
Meanwhile, the Singapore dollar bill worth 16,068,804 SGD, along with various other foreign currencies, was also tested by the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) and declared authentic.
“The Singapore dollar bill with a nominal value of 16,068,804 was declared authentic. Several other foreign currencies were also tested by the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri),” he added.
This statement also refutes rumors circulating on social media alleging that the gold and money seized in the case involving Febrie Adriansyah were counterfeit. Until now, investigators are still investigating the origins of all the assets that have been confiscated as part of the evidence process in this case.
