Bahlil Urges Golkar to Remain Solid in the 2029 Elections
Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that his party’s primary target ahead of the 2029 elections is to increase legislative seats at all levels. To achieve this target, Bahlil asked all cadres to strengthen organizational consolidation down to the village level.
Bahlil made this statement while inaugurating the leadership of the Golkar Party’s Aceh Regional Leadership Council (DPD) I at the Hermes Palace Hotel, Banda Aceh, Saturday (July 11, 2026).
According to Bahlil, Golkar has two strategic agendas for the next few years: overseeing the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka until the end of their term, while also preparing for a greater victory in the 2029 elections.
“Going forward, we have two major tasks: overseeing the administration of President Prabowo-Gibran until its completion and increasing the number of Golkar Party seats in the 2029 elections,” Bahlil said.
He believes the first step must be to strengthen the party’s internal solidarity. Therefore, the holding of regional deliberations (Musda) and the inauguration of the board members are not merely ceremonial, but rather part of a strategy to strengthen Golkar’s political machine.
“Consolidation is the most important instrument for increasing seats. The Musda and the inauguration of the board members are part of that consolidation process,” he said.
Bahlil also reminded that Golkar was born from various elements of society, from farmers, fishermen, laborers, teachers, to retired TNI and Polri officers. Therefore, all cadres are asked to maintain a spirit of togetherness regardless of background or seniority.
He hopes the new leadership in Aceh can become a unifying force for the entire party, ensuring Golkar’s strength in facing future political contests.
“There should no longer be any barriers between seniors and juniors. Everyone must be embraced to work together to grow the Golkar Party,” he stressed.
Furthermore, Bahlil requested that provincial board members immediately complete organizational consolidation by holding Musda at the regency/city, sub-district, and village levels. He believes that the party’s strength will be strengthened if the organizational structure is active, right down to the grassroots level.
“I request that after this inauguration, the Regional Conferences (Musda) be immediately continued at the district/city, sub-district, and village levels to ensure comprehensive consolidation,” he said.
Meanwhile, M. Salim Fakhri, Chairman of the Golkar Party’s Aceh Regional Representative Council (DPD I), is optimistic that his party will be able to increase its seat count in the 2029 elections. Golkar Aceh currently has 88 members in the district/city DPRD, several seats in the Aceh DPR, and three representatives in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).
“We are optimistic that Golkar’s seat count in Aceh will increase in the upcoming elections. We will demonstrate this target through our political work on the ground,” Salim said.
