iCloud+ Subscriptions Are Now More Expensive
Apple device users in Indonesia will have to prepare to dig deeper into their pockets. Apple has officially adjusted the prices for its cloud-based storage service, iCloud+, with price increases applicable to almost all subscription plans, from 200 GB to 12 TB.
The only plan that remains unchanged is the 50 GB plan. Apple is maintaining its rate at Rp 15,000 per month.
Here are the latest rates for iCloud+ in Indonesia:
50 GB: Rp 15,000/month (fixed)
200 GB: Rp 59,000/month (previously Rp 49,000)
2 TB: Rp 199,000/month (previously Rp 169,000)
6 TB: Rp 599,000/month (previously Rp 499,000)
12 TB: Rp 1,199,000/month (previously Rp 999,000)
This price increase isn’t unique to Indonesia. Apple has also implemented iCloud+ price adjustments in several other countries, including Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Turkey, Egypt, New Zealand, and Nigeria.
A MacRumors report states that the increase varies by country, ranging from 11 to 55 percent. Nigeria saw the highest price increase, with the subscription price increasing from 900 Naira to 1,300 Naira.
Apple has not yet provided an official explanation for the price adjustment. However, some observers suspect the policy is related to fluctuations in the local currency’s value against the US dollar.
In Indonesia, the recent weakening of the rupiah is said to be a potential factor influencing price adjustments for subscription-based digital services.
For your information, iCloud+ is Apple’s premium cloud storage service that provides additional storage space for photos, videos, documents, and device data backups. In addition to more storage space, customers also receive additional features such as Hide My Email, Custom Email Domain, and iCloud Private Relay.
With this rate adjustment, users who subscribe to iCloud+ plans with capacities of 200 GB to 12 TB will start to be charged a higher monthly fee than before.
