Netanyahu Asserts Israel Remains Alert to Iranian Threats

Benjamin Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that his country does not consider the conflict with Iran over. Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israel remains on high military alert, believing threats from Tehran continue.

Netanyahu made this statement while attending an Israeli Air Force pilot graduation ceremony at Hatzerim Air Base on Thursday (July 9, 2026) local time. He emphasized that the Israeli government and military have prepared various measures to deal with the possibility of a new escalation.

“This war is not over. Threats continue to come, and new threats continue to emerge. We are aware of that, and we are ready to face any scenario,” Netanyahu said, as quoted on Friday (July 10, 2026).

According to Netanyahu, Air Force capabilities are a crucial element of Israel’s defense strategy. He believes that air superiority must be maintained to safeguard national security amidst the still-uncertain situation in the Middle East.

This statement comes amid renewed tensions in the region. In the past two days, Iran and the United States (US) have exchanged fire again after an incident involving three merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz prompted a military response from Washington.

Echoing Netanyahu’s statement, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir stated that the military operation against Iran has not entered its final phase. He stated that the Israeli military has prepared a series of follow-up operations as part of its strategy to counter the evolving threat.

“The military campaign against Iran is not over. We have prepared new plans. Major operations are still ahead. Be prepared,” Zamir said.

Previously, Iran and the United States had agreed to a memorandum of understanding brokered by Pakistan on June 17, 2026, as a step towards ending the conflict and paving the way for a peace agreement. However, the situation changed again after US President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday that the agreement had expired, re-escalating the confrontation between the two countries.
