Melanie Subono “Satu”

Who doesn’t know the song “SATU,” popularized by the band Superglad in 2007? With a spirit and message aligned with the Rumah Harapan Foundation, Melanie Subono reworked the song. At the time, “SATU” was written to encourage those who, at that time, were suffering from HIV/AIDS due to needle sticks and drug use. It encouraged them to keep fighting despite their mistakes. “I chose it because the lyrics speak to the current situation, where people are tired, how people must take responsibility for their actions and move on. ‘SATU’ is a simple word, but it means everything; we are one,” said Melanie.

“Superglad agrees with Melanie that we don’t live alone in this world. We must support each other and take responsibility for all our actions, right?” added Giox, bassist of Superglad. “Superglad and Aunt Mel are like aunt and niece, right? Hahaha. We often collaborate with Aunt Mel, and we often perform featuring her. Moreover, the Superglad kids are often treated to chicken noodles, haha,” joked Giox.
