Nicki Minaj Faces Heavy Criticism
United States President Donald Trump has once again been in the spotlight after complimenting rapper Nicki Minaj at a White House event. Trump’s remarks, calling the musician a “very sexy” woman, sparked an outcry and drew criticism on social media.
The incident occurred during a Rose Garden Club luncheon at the White House on Monday (July 6, 2026). While introducing Nicki Minaj to guests, Trump delivered several compliments, including a reference to the rapper’s physical appearance.
“We have a very respected, very sexy, very wonderful woman, and a great friend. She has an incredible talent, Nicki Minaj,” Trump said.
Nicki Minaj’s name was mentioned again by Trump during his approximately 35-minute speech. While discussing the business world, Trump briefly addressed the singer and made a point of joking with the attendees.
Although applause was received at the event, Trump’s remarks drew negative reactions on social media. Some internet users deemed the comments inappropriate for an official state forum because they emphasized Nicki Minaj’s physical appearance over her accomplishments as a musician.
One user on the platform X argued that Trump’s introduction of Nicki reinforced the notion that women are still often judged by their appearance, not their abilities or ideas.
Nicki Minaj, on the other hand, seemed unconcerned with the comments. Through her X account, the Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper posted several photos of herself at the White House with the hashtag #WhiteHouseBarbie, without commenting on the controversy.
Nicki’s presence at the White House has again drawn public attention because in recent times she has been known to increasingly openly show support for Trump and the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.
This stance is seen as a stark contrast to her position during Trump’s first term, when Nicki launched a number of policies, including those related to immigration.
Recently, speculation has circulated that Nicki’s close relationship with Trump is related to efforts to seek legal pardons for her family members. However, the White House has denied these rumors.
“An apology was never discussed, either by Nicki Minaj or anyone else. It was never part of the conversation,” the White House statement read.
