Immigration uncovers Chinese citizen working illegally at Pluit project
Ten Chinese nationals were deported by the North Jakarta Class I Immigration Office after being caught working as construction laborers on a construction project in the Pluit Karang Sari housing complex in Penjaringan, North Jakarta.
The Head of the North Jakarta Class I Immigration Office, Rendra Mauliansyah, stated that the Chinese nationals should not have been allowed to work because they only held C2 Visit Visas.
“These ten Chinese nationals were caught working as laborers, even though they only had visit visas in Indonesia,” said Rendra.
Investigations revealed that three individuals, identified as WY, ZZ, and BX, were tasked with assembling the iron and building pillars. The other seven—ZZ, XW, LH, ZH, ZY, LJ, and JP—were working on cutting wood and iron for the project’s main frame.
According to Rendra, this activity constituted a misuse of their stay permits, as the foreign nationals were engaged in work inconsistent with the purpose of their visas.
“They were detained in the Detention Room at the Class I Immigration Office, TPI, North Jakarta, prior to deportation and travel bans,” he explained.
For these violations, all Chinese citizens were subject to administrative action in the form of deportation and inclusion on the travel ban list based on Article 75 Paragraph (2) letters a and f of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.
The ten Chinese citizens were repatriated to their home country on July 17, 2026, via a Jakarta-Guangzhou flight departing from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
“They were returned to their country on the Jakarta-Guangzhou flight via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport,” Rendra concluded.
