KPK Chairman: There is No Urgency to Take Up Febrie Case

Febrie Adriansyah

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it has not yet seen any pressing reason to take over the handling of the alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah. The anti-graft agency believes the investigation, currently under the Attorney General’s Office, still needs to be given space to proceed according to legal provisions.

KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto stated that there is currently no urgency for the KPK to use its authority to take over the case. This statement was made at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (July 14, 2026), following the transfer of the investigation from the National Police to the Attorney General’s Office.

According to Setyo, the investigation conducted by the Attorney General’s Office is still in its early stages. Law enforcement officials are still reviewing evidence, examining documents, and coordinating with various parties to develop the case.

“There is no urgency to take over. Let the ongoing process be completed first according to the applicable mechanisms,” said Setyo.

He emphasized that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) respects the legal process being carried out by the Attorney General’s Office. As long as the case is being handled properly, the KPK has no reason to intervene through a takeover mechanism.

However, Setyo revealed that the KPK had received a request for supervision regarding the case. However, the request was only submitted verbally and had not yet fulfilled the applicable administrative requirements.

“The request for supervision has been made verbally, but we are still waiting for an official letter. Once we receive a written request, we will discuss it at the leadership level to determine the next steps,” Setyo said.

He explained that the official request letter serves as the basis for the KPK leadership to decide whether supervision is necessary and in what form. Therefore, the KPK has chosen to wait for the administrative process before taking further action.

With this stance, the KPK emphasized that it will continue to monitor developments in the handling of the Febrie Adriansyah case, while prioritizing inter-agency coordination and respecting the ongoing legal process at the Attorney General’s Office.
