Hotman Paris Visits Jampidsus, Ready to Defend Febrie Adriansyah?

Hotman Paris

The presence of renowned lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea at the Attorney General’s Office’s Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) building on Friday (July 17, 2026) immediately attracted public attention. This was because Hotman had signaled his potential to become the attorney for former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah.

Hotman arrived at the Attorney General’s Office complex at around 9:48 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. Unlike most guests, his car was directed to the basement of the Jampidsus building before he entered, accompanied by a prosecutor.

When approached by media personnel regarding reports that he would be representing Febrie Adriansyah in the ongoing legal proceedings, Hotman did not deny the rumors.

“Almost, most likely,” Hotman said briefly.

This statement further fueled speculation that the veteran lawyer would join Febrie’s defense team, although there has been no official announcement regarding his appointment as attorney.

Febrie Adriansyah’s name has been in the spotlight after being implicated in investigations into several alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) cases. Investigators have also named Don Ritto, a private individual, as a suspect in these cases.

The case, originally handled by the Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, has now been transferred to the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) on July 11, 2026.

To handle the case, the AGO formed a special team consisting of nine senior prosecutors. This team is tasked with continuing the investigation into Febrie Adriansyah in accordance with applicable law.

To date, there has been no official statement from the AGO or Febrie Adriansyah regarding the appointment of Hotman Paris as legal counsel in the case.
