President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Indonesian government has prepared a special health care center for Gazans affected by the conflict, located on Galang Island, Batam, Riau Islands.

This facility is designed to accommodate and treat up to 2,000 patients from the conflict-affected region.

“Regarding Gaza, the President yesterday also instructed Indonesia to provide medical assistance to approximately 2,000 Gazans affected by the war. Those injured, those affected by bombs, debris, and other injuries,” said Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), in a press statement in Jakarta, Thursday (August 7, 2025).

Hasan explained that Galang Island was chosen because it already has adequate hospital facilities and other supporting infrastructure. In addition to providing treatment, this location will also accommodate the families of the victims who accompany them.

“And the plan is to set up a medical center on Galang Island. Galang Island has hospital facilities, including other supporting facilities, that can treat approximately 2,000 Gazans. This will also include accommodation for families accompanying the victims of this war,” he explained.

Furthermore, Hasan stated that President Prabowo also ordered the implementation of a humanitarian airdrop mission for Gazans. Furthermore, Indonesia is ready to send peacekeeping troops to the region if a ceasefire is achieved.

“The President yesterday stated that Indonesia is ready to send peacekeeping troops to Gaza to maintain the peace, just as we did in Lebanon. And the President also directed the Indonesian government to be involved in sending humanitarian aid to Gaza,” Hasan said.

According to him, various international parties pushing for a ceasefire have asked Indonesia to play an active role, including sending peacekeeping troops if the situation permits.

“Currently, many parties are working to establish a ceasefire in Gaza. These parties are asking Indonesia to get involved and send peacekeeping troops if the ceasefire is successful,” he added.

To support the air support mission, the President has also instructed Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin to prepare two Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) Hercules aircraft.

“So, yesterday, the President asked the Defense Minister to prepare two Hercules aircraft to participate in airdrop operations. This means dropping food aid and other assistance to Gazan residents from the air,” Hasan concluded.
