Yusril Ihza Mahendra Confirms the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Cannot Report Ferry Irwandi
Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections (Kumham Imipas), Yusril Ihza Mahendra, stated that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) cannot report content creator Ferry Irwandi for alleged defamation.
“Based on the Constitutional Court’s ruling, in defamation cases, the victim who must report is an individual, not an institution. I think that’s clear,” Yusril said on Thursday (September 11, 2025).
“The TNI consulted with the police about whether the institution could report as a victim, but the police have already responded,” he added.
Therefore, he welcomed those who wish to pursue other legal remedies beyond the alleged criminal defamation.
“If you wish to pursue legal action, please do so, but not under the crime of defamation, because defamation is a case involving an individual,” he concluded.
