Professor Bartek Suffers Serious Injuries in Colorado Ski Accident
News broke that the husband of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Wamen Diktisaintek), Stella Christie, was in a serious accident. Prof. Bartlomiej Czech, also known as Bartek, reportedly suffered critical injuries following a skiing incident in Aspen, Colorado, United States.
The incident occurred on Sunday (January 18, 2026). As a result of the accident, Prof. Bartek is currently undergoing intensive care at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Information about Prof. Bartek’s condition first became public knowledge through Stella Christie’s Instagram Story post. The post featured a photo of her husband lying in a hospital bed with several medical devices attached.
The Secretariat of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology later confirmed the news. In an official statement, it stated that Prof. Bartek suffered several serious injuries, including a spinal fracture, a thoracic injury, and a ruptured aorta. He also suffered multiple fractures to his face and arms.
“Prof. Bartek suffered a serious accident while skiing in Aspen, Colorado, and is currently in critical condition,” said a representative from the Secretariat of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in a written statement on Tuesday (January 20, 2026).
The secretariat explained that Prof. Bartek has undergone two major surgeries and is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for intensive monitoring and further treatment.
Meanwhile, Stella Christie has departed for the United States, a journey of approximately 40 hours. She reportedly arrived safely at St. Mary’s Hospital to be with her husband.
“Prof. Stella is at the hospital where Prof. Bartek is being treated,” the statement continued.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology also expressed a public request for prayers for Prof. Bartek’s recovery and for strength for his family, who are facing this difficult situation.
