The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources requires one-stop fuel imports through Pertamina
Recently, several private gas stations have experienced fuel shortages. To address this shortage, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) will establish a one-stop fuel import system through PT Pertamina (Persero).
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Yuliot Tanjung, stated that his ministry is currently awaiting data from private gas stations.
Preliminary data obtained from a recent consolidation indicates that the import requirement is 1.4 million kiloliters.
“So, the provisional data for the submitted requirement is 1.4 million kiloliters. So, what is Pertamina’s portion, and what is the portion for business entities? We’re requesting detailed data. The government’s approval period is until the end of the year to determine the approximate demand,” Yuliot said when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources office in Jakarta on Friday (September 12, 2025).
“This is per business entity, so we also need to provide details for each business entity. Therefore, the import process will be a one-stop system. We want to ensure that the allocated amount is insufficient, or that there are no implementation issues,” he added.
He also stated that the planned fuel imports from the United States (US) are part of the trade agreement between Indonesia and the US.
“There are several US companies involved, right? That’s up to us. The US companies that make the procurement must be, for example, ExxonMobil, which is a US company. And Chevron, which is US. So, it’s up to them where they source their goods. But this is recorded as part of our trade balance with the US,” he concluded.
