The first working meeting between the new Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, and Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) was in the spotlight.
The public was curious about the performance of the new Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who sparked controversy on his first day of inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto.
The public was also quite surprised by an incident that occurred during the working meeting. The Chairman of Commission XI of the DPR RI suddenly interrupted Minister Purbaya, who was speaking, to end the meeting.
The moment immediately drew attention because Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chairman of Commission XI of the DPR RI, interrupted the meeting while Purbaya Yudhi was discussing government funds held at Bank Indonesia.
Mukhamad Misbakhun stated that the meeting was merely an introductory meeting and that answers to Purbaya Yudhi’s questions could be submitted in written form.
“Mr. Purbaya, if you have any further questions, since we still have another meeting, that was actually an introductory meeting, sir. So, I think the rest will be answered in writing. We’ll end the meeting this afternoon,” said Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, when concluding the discussion with Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa during the working meeting on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
Later, the relevant director generals will be present at our work units’ meetings when you discuss the budget. Those will be answered by your work units,” he said.
“So, our meetings are typically initiated by Mr. Purbaya. Earlier, we were also criticized by Mr. Purbaya for having discussed fundamental issues in our meetings, whether they have been asked about them or not,” Mukhamad Misbakhun concluded.
