President Prabowo nephew resigns from the DPR
Gerindra Party politician Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, also known as Sara, has decided to resign as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the 2024-2029 term.
“I hereby announce my resignation as a member of the DPR RI to the Gerindra Faction,” Sara said in a post on her Instagram account on Wednesday (September 10).
“I hope I will still be given the opportunity to complete one final task, namely the deliberation and ratification of the Tourism Bill in Commission VII,” she added.
Sara also explained her reasons for her decision to resign from the DPR. “Although my true intention was to encourage entrepreneurship, especially in the era of digital transformation that opens up vast opportunities in the creative economy, I understand that my words have hurt many people, especially those currently struggling to support their families, even just to survive,” she said.
“The fault lies entirely with me. Therefore, through this message, I express my deepest apologies for my words and mistakes,” she continued.
Sara also expressed her gratitude to all the people of West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Seribu Islands who had elected and placed their trust in her.
“I apologize if I have disappointed you during my time in this role,” she concluded.
