Pati Demonstration Initiator Husein, Nearly Beaten by a Mob at the Command Post
The chaotic incident involving Ahmad Husein Hafid, one of the initiators of the United Pati Community Alliance, suddenly became a public spotlight. The action went viral on social media after a video of Husein being surrounded by residents circulated widely.
The incident occurred on Monday (September 8, 2025) evening in front of the Pati Regent’s office. Husein, who was later revealed to have reconciled with Pati Regent Sudewo, suddenly arrived at the protest post. His presence angered the crowd, who were disappointed with his behavior.
According to information from residents and a video uploaded by the account Eko Kuswanto (mbah to), Husein arrived apparently drunk. The odor of alcohol was noticeable from his breath as he interacted with residents.
“Husein arrived at the post drunk. He said he wanted to maintain peace in Pati, but he was unconscious. He got out of the car and then got back in,” said Supriyono, also known as Bothok, coordinator of the United Pati Community, on Tuesday (September 9, 2025).
The situation escalated when the crowd arrived at the location. Residents were upset because Husein, who had previously been vocal in demanding Sudewo step down, had now opted for peace. Inevitably, the crowd surrounded Husein’s car and nearly assaulted him.
Fortunately, police officers quickly arrived at the scene to evacuate Husein. He and his car were taken into the Pati Regent’s office.
The Head of the Pati Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner Heri Dwi Utomo, confirmed the incident. “We secured the person concerned from the crowd to prevent further disturbances. The car he was using has also been secured, and the situation is now under control,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Husein denied that he had come to cause trouble. He claimed his initial intention was simply to have a friendly conversation with Supriyono to stop the demonstration.
“I came to have a chat to calm things down in Pati. Instead, I was considered drunk and defiant,” Husein said.
Despite being detained by police, the incident remains a source of intense concern. The video of Husein being surrounded by residents continues to circulate on various social media platforms, sparking pros and cons among netizens.
