The DPR held an evaluation meeting to discuss the 17+8 demands of the Indonesian people
The leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) will hold a meeting with the leaders of the factions to discuss the 17+8 demands voiced by the public during the demonstrations on August 25-31, 2025.
Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that the meeting will also serve to evaluate and unify opinions with the eight factions in the DPR.
“We will hold an evaluation meeting tomorrow (today) with the faction leaders to unify opinions and reach an agreement in the DPR,” Dasco said after meeting with several representatives of students and youth organizations at the parliamentary complex on Wednesday (September 3).
“Well, in the meeting, we conveyed that the DPR will soon conduct comprehensive evaluations of both allowances and the transparency of DPR activities, including those under 17+8,” he said.
“Yesterday, when we were about to leave, it wasn’t purely a demonstration, but there were stowaways, which certainly made the situation on the ground less conducive,” he added.
Previously, the Civil Coalition formulated 17+8 demands in response to the past week’s demonstrations, under the title “17+8 demands of the people: transparency, reform, and empathy.” The coalition demanded that the 17 demands be met immediately within a week, until September 5.
