Police Block 592 Social Media Accounts Suspected of Being Provocative
A total of 592 social media accounts were blocked. Police believe these accounts provoked riots in the last week of August 2025.
This was revealed by the Director of Cyber Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, in a press statement at National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (September 3, 2025).
“We have collaborated with the Ministry of Communication and Digital to block 592 accounts and content, which to date has reached 592,” said Brigadier General Himawan.

His directorate, along with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya), also conducted cyber patrols from August 23 to September 3, resulting in the blocking of 592 accounts.
“These social media accounts spread provocation, inviting, and inciting the public to commit unlawful acts during demonstrations,” said Himawan.
The police have also named seven suspects in the social media provocation. “We have received five police reports, which we then followed up by arresting seven suspects,” Himawan said at National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta, Wednesday (September 3, 2025).
