Sri Mulyani guarantees no new taxes will be implemented

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani has guaranteed that there will be no new taxes or tax rate increases in 2026.

“Because the needs of the state and nation are so great, state revenues continue to increase without any new policies. In this regard, the media often conveys the impression that in order to increase revenue, we are raising taxes. In fact, the taxes remain the same,” Sri Mulyani said in a virtual working meeting with the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) on Tuesday (September 2, 2025).

According to her, her ministry will focus on compliance to increase tax revenue. In this regard, those who are able and obliged to pay taxes will continue to pay their taxes easily and compliantly.

“Many questions have also arisen regarding MSMEs. Our policy is that MSMEs with a turnover of up to IDR 500 million are exempt from income tax, so they don’t pay taxes. For turnover above IDR 500 million up to IDR 4.8 billion, the final tax is 0.5%. This is a policy that favors MSMEs, as the corporate income tax rate is 22%. This demonstrates that state revenues are being maintained, while mutual assistance, especially for vulnerable groups, will still be provided. This is all based on the principle of mutual cooperation, but we still maintain good governance,” said Sri Mulyani.

“So, the programs include continuing to improve and perfect Coretax, synergizing data exchange, and treating digital transactions the same as non-digital transactions. We continue to enhance joint programs to ensure consistency in intelligence surveillance data audits,” she concluded.
