Police Suspect There Are Anrko on the Unisba and Unpas Campuses
Smoke from tear gas canisters in Tamansari, Bandung, West Java, wafted over the campuses of Pasundan University (Unpas) and Bandung Islamic University (Unisba) on Monday evening (September 1, 2025).
In fact, it is suspected that there were intruders trying to provoke the crowd and students.
Police explained that the incident occurred during a patrol when officers encountered a crowd suspected of deliberately inciting unrest.
Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that initially, police, assisted by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), were searching several areas after pushing back a crowd demonstrating in front of the West Java Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) office.
“At the same time, a group of people wearing black, suspected to be mostly anarchists, appeared. They were the ones who initially blocked and blocked the road in Tamansari and acted in anarchic manner. So, a large-scale joint TNI-Polri patrol team was deployed,” Senior Commissioner Hendra told reporters on Tuesday (September 2, 2025).
“They devised a provocative scenario, luring officers into retreating to the Unisba campus, hoping they would attack and enter the campus. However, we remained calm and did not fall for their scheme. We conducted a sweep along the road,” he concluded.
