Cipayung Plus Bekasi Regency Cancels Action on Monday, September 1, 2025
Cipayung Plus Bekasi Regency canceled their demonstration on Monday, September 1, 2025, citing the evolving situation and the increasingly brutal and aimless nature of the protesters.
According to an official letter received by the editorial team, Cipayung Plus sent a letter addressed to the Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Mustofa. The letter was signed by five leaders of national student organizations.
The signatories included Muhammad Faisal Haq, Chairman of the Bekasi Regency PMII Branch, Mustakim, Mustakim, Migdad Abdurrahman, Migdad Abdurrahman, Rizal Nurfalah, Chairman of the Bekasi Raya Student Association (IMM), and Adhi Laksono Murti, Chairman of the Bekasi Raya Student Association (HIMA Persis), on Sunday, September 31, 2025.
“In response to the evolving dynamics in Bekasi Regency and the surrounding area, we, Cipayung Plus Bekasi Regency, deem it necessary to reconsider holding the demonstration,” they wrote.
“Originally scheduled for Monday, September 1, 2025, we have temporarily postponed the demonstration due to the potential for incitement and actions leading to anarchy by irresponsible individuals,” stated Cipayung Plus Bekasi Regency.
Cipayung Plus also stated that the reason for holding the demonstration was the potential for incitement and actions leading to anarchy by irresponsible individuals.
Therefore, the student organization’s planned demonstration, which was to be held in front of the Bekasi Metro Police Headquarters and the Bekasi Regency Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) Building, has been officially postponed indefinitely.
Previously, they demanded a transparent investigation into the death of Afan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi driver in Jakarta, which allegedly involved police officers. Furthermore, the students also rejected all forms of repressive action by authorities against demonstrators within the jurisdiction of the Bekasi Metro Police.
