Bekasi Residents Urged to Avoid Summarecon Area: Protests in Bekasi City Turn Brutal
A clash broke out between security forces and a number of demonstrators in the Summarecon Bekasi area, Bekasi City, on Sunday evening (August 31, 2025).
In a video circulating on social media, police officers from the Bekasi City Metro Police were seen dispersing the demonstrators who continued to act in anarchic ways.
Rocks and firecrackers were seen being aimed at the officers on standby. As a result, a clash between the two groups was inevitable.
Local residents united to create a blockade consisting of a bamboo fence to prevent the demonstrators from entering residential areas.
“If you don’t have important business, it’s better for Bekasi residents not to leave their homes,” said the account X @arikel***.
