Nanik S. Deyang Resigns as Head of BGN
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik S. Deyang, has officially resigned from her position. This decision was made so she can focus on treatment for her heart condition without disrupting the implementation of the national strategic programs for which BGN is responsible.
Nanik stated that she had submitted her resignation directly to President Prabowo Subianto, and the decision has been approved. In the near future, she plans to undergo examination and treatment abroad to obtain a second medical opinion regarding her health condition.
“This is not because I don’t trust the excellent doctors in Indonesia, but I want to get a second opinion, and I also want to follow the recommendation of a colleague at the destination for treatment,” Nanik wrote on her personal Facebook account on Wednesday (July 22, 2026).
Although no longer structurally leading BGN, Nanik revealed that President Prabowo still asked her to play a role in overseeing the agency’s policy direction and operations.
According to her, the President even plans to establish a BGN Supervisory Board as part of strengthening the agency’s governance. Within the new structure, Nanik is projected to assume the role of Chair of the Supervisory Board.
This move demonstrates the government’s continued desire to utilize Nanik’s experience and contributions in overseeing the implementation of the National Nutrition Agency’s programs, even though she is no longer head of the agency.
Nanik’s resignation also forms part of the leadership transition process at the National Nutrition Agency, which is now led by Sudaryono, after being appointed by President Prabowo Subianto to continue the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.
