Meiska: Berat Rasanya

Not wanting to take too long to entertain her fans, Meiska has released a new single following her previous release, “Datang Tepat Waktu” (Coming on Time), on June 20th. A self-composed song, “Berat Rasa” (It Feels Heavy) was written in April. The recording took place in June, about one to two weeks after “Datang Tepat Waktu” was recorded. After mixing and mastering, the new single was finally ready for release in September. Meiska described the process of working on this single as quite fitting. It didn’t take too long or too rushed, resulting in a truly satisfying result.

In keeping with her chosen title, the Denpasar-born soloist explains that “Berat Rasa” tells the story of a relationship that is forced to end due to a change in a partner’s attitude. “The story is about someone whose partner seems to have lost interest. Ultimately, this person decides to break up because they feel the relationship is immature and can’t move forward in a more serious direction. If it really can’t be maintained anymore, it’s better to separate for the good of all. The inspiration for this song came when I was feeling empty, alone, and contemplating a good breakup. This kind of thing is certainly familiar in my environment, perhaps I’ve even experienced it myself.”
